My story begins the son of mormon parents, Blackburn, Kintore, Scotland.
My journey into technology started with earnings from my paper round, At £1.25 per round I held the record for most earned in a week at 82.50 to give you an idea of the work involved in this I was regularly turning up early 5am or there about organising the rounds and then setting off with 4 rounds in the morning and three in the evening as standard, that would earn me about 49.50 a week the wook of 82.50 I ended up doing 7 rounds in the morning and almost being late for school and 4 in the evening 6 days a week as I never worked Sundays where you could earn £4 per round. My record was broken within a a month by a lad who was driven by his father around to do almost all the Sunday rounds and his weekly total was closer to £90. anyway it was this hard work that allowed me to hand over £1440 to my grandfather to cover the cost of my own Personal from Mesh Computers next gen range with 80GB hard drive and 1.4ghz CPU a beige monster back in 1997-1998
It wouldn't be long before Windows Millenium Edition would be released. It was awful. This computer being my own I decided to install fedora Core 4 linux ontop. My first foray into gnome 2 linux. I can't remember if I downloaded the install candidate or whether it was borrowed from one of the only linux mags (linux format) at the newsagents
